For a comprehensive experience in this unique floodplain habitat and excellent opportunities to see the Wild Fishing Cats in their natural habitat, we suggest the following minimum 3-nights & 4-days itinerary. We have maintained a 100% success rate for Fishing Cat sightings over the past 10 years. To increase your chances of encountering other rare species in the area, consider extending your stay by 2 - 3 nights

DAY1

Welcome to Baghrol Basa

Kolkata Airport to Baghrol Basa transfer. Check in, have food and relax. Enjoy the floodplains night Safaris. Baghrol Basa will be our home for the next 3 Nights.

Day 2 & 3

Fishing Cat Expedition, Birding & Bush Walks

Wake up late with Twitter & Tea. Enjoy the rest of the day relaxing & wildlife watching in and around. Enjoy the exclusive Bengal Floodplains night safari looking for the Fishing Cat, Jungle Cat, Civets, Owls, Nightjars and other nocturnal wildlife.

Day 4

Final Day Birding & Check out

Wake up late with Twitter & Tea the final morning in the Bengal Floodplains. Post breakfast check out from Baghrol Basa and transfer to Kolkata Airport by 12 noon. Service Ends. Wish you a happy journey ahead.

  • What types of accommodation do you offer at Baghrol Basa?
    At Baghrol Basa, we offer a comfortable and immersive accommodation designed to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Each room has Air Conditioning with Refrigerator, attached modern western toilet with toiletries & running hot/cold water and a Balcony overlooking the fish pond home for the native birds & Fishing Cats.
  • What kind of wildlife can I expect to see at Baghrol Basa?
    Baghrol Basa is nestled in a rich wildlife habitat. Guests sometimes see Fishing Cat from the room & balcony itself. During safari in and around this floodplains we get many other elusive wildlife from the Endangered Ganges river dolphin, Jungle Cat, Asian Palm Civet, Small Indian Civet, Mongoose, Indian Flying Fox and many beautiful birds including the Critically Endangered Yellow-breasted Bunting, Chestnut-capped Babbler, Slaty-legged crake, Brown Fish Owl, Barn Owl, Blue-throated Barbets, Golden Orioles, Orange-headed thrush, all call it home.
  • What is the best time of year for wildlife viewing at Baghrol Basa?
    November to August is best for the Fishing Cats.
  • How do I get to Baghrol Basa?
    We take care of all the services from Kolkata International Airport. It takes about 1.30 hrs to reach Baghrol Basa.
  • What should I pack for my stay at Baghrol Basa?
    We recommend packing comfortable & warm clothing suitable for outdoor forest activities, Waterproof walking or trekking shoes, sun protection, a hat, Rain gear. Binoculars, Spotting scopes or Cameras to view and record. A more comprehensive packing list will be sent to you a month prior to the trip.
  • Is Baghrol Basa environmentally friendly?
    At Baghrol Basa, we are deeply committed to sustainable tourism and conservation. We strive to minimize our environmental footprint through initiatives such as not using the Fire Wood, Using Eco-friendly fireplace, using Green Gensets, responsible waste management, water conservation, and supporting local communities.
  • Do you cater to special dietary requirements?
    Because of the very remote location and limited connectivity our food menus are fixed but we can accommodate most special dietary requirements with advance notice. Please inform us of your needs when making your reservation for Baghrol Basa so we can plan accordingly.
  • Are there any age / fitness restrictions for guests?
    While there are generally no strict age restrictions, but expedition participants should be able to walk for at least 500 m to 1km with or without our support to be able to access this forest and see the wild Fishing Cats. We have shown Fishing Cat to guests from 2 to 84 years.
  • Is tipping customary at Baghrol Basa?
    Tipping is a personal choice, but if you wish to show appreciation for excellent service from our staff at Baghrol Basa, it is always welcome. A guideline for tipping can be provided upon request.
